Philosophy

Meaning clear?

From Mr H. Littler, MRPharmS

SIR,-I do agree with Mr Gould in his concern for absolute precision in the use of language (PJ, June 24, p952). In his first letter on this topic (PJ, June 10, p880), however, he says, in respect of the New Age for pharmacy, that "the laws that govern its practice are over 30 years out-dated", which in the context of his letter can refer only to the Medicines Act 1968. Bearing in mind the fact that many of the regulations which gave effect to the provisions of the Medicines Act 1968 did not come into force until much later the literal and precise meaning of the above statement is that the Medicines Act 1968 was outdated almost before it was brought into force. But of course we know what he means.
