Obituaries

Patel On June 19, Ushma Patel, MRPharmS, of 23 Gaynes Hill Road, Woodford, Essex IG8 8HX. Ms Patel registered in 1992.
Ms JAN TOMES writes: Ushma Patel undertook her preregistration training at University College (London) hospital and then stayed as a basic grade pharmacist. She moved to Newham General hospital in 1995 as dispensary/clinical services pharmacist and then took on the new role of HIV services pharmacist.
Newham now has a large number of HIV patients with a particularly busy family clinic. Ushma became an expert in providing HIV pharmacy services in a multicultural environment and was committed to helping her patients in whatever way she could. She was on the steering group of the HIV pharmacists group and enjoyed enormously the work she did with them.
Ushma was a bright, lively sociable individual who was loved by everyone in our department and by many around the Trust. She loved to bring joy to people and we are all totally devastated by her sudden and untimely death.
We plan to hold a memorial service for her on August 3. Anyone who knew Ushma is more than welcome to attend and should contact me on 020 7363 8045 for details.
Our deepest sympathy goes to her parents and brother.
