Astra Zeneca announced on July 12 that it has received European approval to market esomeprazole, its new proton pump inhibitor. The company said that the approved indications include "on demand" treatment for symptomatic gastro-oesophageal reflux disease without oesophagitis, allowing patients to take a single dose as and when needed to control recurrent symptoms. UK launch is planned for the autumn.
