Procurement The Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists purchasing and distribution interest group is inviting submissions for its 2000 Pharmacia & Upjohn award. The award of £1,000 will be given to fund work on the procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals in hospitals. Areas of interest could include cold chains, implementation of electronic data interchange, the use of information technology in purchasing, distribution or stock control, best practice and training. The winning entry will be presented at the interest group's symposium and submitted as a poster for the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists congress in Amsterdam (March 21-23, 2001). The winner may use some of the award to attend the congress. Submissions should include a proposal of around 1,000 words and a brief curriculum vitae. Submissions should be sent to the GHP Administrator, MSF, 40 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3UD, by September 15. The winner will be announced on November 9.
