Astra Zeneca has revised the summary of product characteristics for Oxis (formoterol fumarate) Turbohaler to include its use for the relief of break-through symptoms in addition to maintenance treatment. The posology and method of administration section for Oxis Turbohaler 12 now additionally states: "If required, additional actuations above those prescribed for the regular maintenance therapy may be used for the relief of symptoms up to a maximum total daily dose of six actuations (maintenance plus as required). More than three actuations should not be taken at any single occasion." Treatment should be reassessed if doses above normal maintenance treatment are used more than twice daily and/or more than two days per week.
