PJ Online update

IJPP abstracts are the latest addition to PJ Online

An occasional feature to bring readers up to date with developments in PJ Online, the website version of The Pharmaceutical Journal, and to answer common questions about the service. PJ Online is available on the internet at www.pharmj.com

Since the launch of PJ Online in September last year, the archive search facility has been a steadily expanding information source for pharmacists. It has now been extended and improved once more with the addition of abstracts from the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice.
IJPP abstracts can be searched at the same time as full text articles from other journals in the PJ Publications group - The Pharmaceutical Journal, Hospital Pharmacist and Primary Care Pharmacy. This ensures that all available information on a given topic is retrieved. For example, a search for "medication errors in hospitals" published since the beginning of this year will retrieve 87 articles. The first 10 titles on the list include an original paper from the PJ on the effect of a ward-based pharmacy technician service, a meeting report on pharmaceutical care from the fifth congress of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists published in Hospital Pharmacist, and the abstract of a paper on nurses' attitudes and beliefs about medication errors in a United Kingdom hospital published in the June issue of the IJPP.

IJPP on the web
Abstract of a recent IJPP paper on the use of over-the-counter ibuprofen, by Hazel K. Sinclair, Christine M. Bond and Philip C. Hannaford

The PJ Online site includes abstracts from all IJPP papers published since March, 1997. Abstracts from the June IJPP are the latest to be added. Topics covered by papers in this issue range from theory-based pharmacy practice research to the attitude of community pharmacists towards research and the use of over-the-counter ibuprofen.
The IJPP area of PJ Online can be accessed by clicking the IJPP button on the menu bar from the home page. From there, visitors have the choice of searching the abstracts or selecting the contents page of a specific issue, with links to each abstract from that issue.
For those wishing to subscribe to the journal there is a link to the website of the Pharmaceutical Press (www.pharmpress.com). Advice on how to submit a paper to the journal and details of the editorial board are also available via the site.
Any comments about PJ Online or ideas for improvements should be sent to the website controller, at editor@pharmj.org.uk.
