Rustling of reeds

There be some among us who will tell in the congregations of the rulers how they seek power that they may restrain the avaricious and succour the needy. I say to you now, heed them not, for their speech is as the rustling of reeds in the wind, which filleth the air with its plaint but achieveth naught of benefit. - The Wise Words of William of Worplesdon (circa 1295).
