From Mr G. Diamond, MRPharmS
SIR,-I went to a meeting concerning the supervision of methadone consumption with the practice manager and local police officer at the health centre adjacent to our pharmacy.
During that meeting two members of the health centre staff were mugged, one in their car and another leaving the health centre.
Bearing in mind I work as a community pharmacist, this is part of daily routine for my staff and others involved in delivering primary health care services in central Manchester.
However, it does not deter us from giving this service as the good people of central Manchester who live and work in this environment deserve our praise and support. Moreover, it is the shock and hope of a better life for themselves and their families which reinforces their resolve.
I believe that in the long term they shall prevail.
