From Mr D. N. Sharpe, FRPharmS
SIR,-Much has been made of the recent decision of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee not to proceed to amalgamate with the National Pharmaceutical Association (PJ, June 24, p938).
This item was discussed and voted upon at least twice during my 18 years as chairman of the PSNC. The result was always a foregone conclusion.
The NPA board consists of 21 members. The PSNC consists of 25 members. Short of ending up with a committee of 41 (five PSNC seats are allocated to the NPA), the only conclusion would be some members of both bodies losing their seats.
The majority of turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
