London pharmacy strategy launched

London's 16 local pharmaceutical committees, which have organised themselves under the name "The London forum", have jointly published a strategy for the development of pharmacy services in London.
The 25-page document sets out the forum's vision for promoting the health of vulnerable groups, encouraging healthier lifestyles and improving health services.
The LPCs are intending to organise a conference for communikty pharmacists during the autumn in order to consider the opportunities available to them.
"We will also be combining this with any new ideas the Government will be placing in front of the profession based on its latest perception of pharmacists' roles," Mr Andrew McCoig (chairman, London Forum) writes in a letter to accompany the document.
"Virtually no money is presently targeted at disease prevention and minimising the impact of illness within the pharmacy setting," a foreword says.
The report is to be circulated to opinion leaders, members of Parliament, key individuals within National Health Service bodies and others within the M25 motorway.
