NHS spending plans

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr Gordon Brown) has confirmed that by 2004 National Health Service Spending in Britain will have risen by £12bn, an average annual increase of 6.6 per cent (our Lobby correspondent writes).
But details of exactly how and where the money is to be spent has been held back until next week's announcement of the NHS national plan.
