The licensed indications for Aventis Pharma's Clexane (enoxaparin sodium) have been extended. Clexane is now additionally indicated for "the prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism in medical patients bedridden due to acute illness." The recommended dose is 40mg (4,000iu) once daily, for a minimum of six days and continued until return to full ambulation, for a maximum of 14 days.
