THE 2000 annual general meeting of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Industrial Pharmacists Group will be held on Monday, September 11, 2000, at 12.45pm (or immediately following the group session on electronic information, whichever is the later) at the British Pharmaceutical Conference, in the International Convention Centre, Birmingham. The AGM will receive the annual report for 2000.
Members of the group are reminded that they are entitled to attend and may also submit a resolution for presentation to the AGM, provided it is submitted to the group secretary in writing at least 21 days before the meeting.

FOLLOWING the introduction of competence-based training and assessment for preregistration programmes which commenced after June, 1993, all pharmacists intending to act as preregistration tutors are required by resolution of the Council of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society to attend a one-day tutor training seminar about the Society's preregistration training programme. Prospective tutors should note that attendance at such a seminar is a prerequisite for the commencement of a preregistration trainee's training and that attendance at a seminar prior to 1993 does not obviate the need for attendance in 2000.
Anyone who has attended a seminar since 1993 but who has not tutored a preregistration trainee within the past three years must attend another seminar before his or her trainee commences training. Anyone who has taken over the duties of a preregistration tutor and who has not yet attended a seminar must attend the next available seminar.
Training seminars will be held on Tuesday, November 7, in Manchester, and on Wednesday, November 22, in London.

Note: Because requirements for tutors will change from 2001 onwards, the Society cannot offer places on these seminars to anyone who will not be tutoring a trainee in the academic year 2000-01.
THE names of a number of persons have been removed from the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists for non-payment of fees for 2000. The list of names is published here in response to requests from employers, health authorities and others who have suffered embarrassment as a result of persons continuing to practise as pharmacists who are no longer registered.
The list does not include persons aged over 60 years whose names have been erased, nor those whose registered addresses are overseas. It may include the names of deceased members whose deaths have not been communicated to the Society, and the Society would welcome information in such instances. Any individuals who believe their names are wrongly listed are requested to contact Mrs H. Darracott in the Society's Professional Standards Directorate.

REGISTRATION ceremonies for new members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society are to be held on October 31 and November 1 at the Society's London headquarters. Members who register after June will receive a letter from the President regarding the ceremony, together with an application form.
