Preregistration winners The following preregistration trainees were awarded Pharmacia & Upjohn prizes for projects which they undertook as part of their training. Each has won a place at the UK Clinical Pharmacy Association's autumn conference in November: Naomi Adams (Wales), Charlotte Bond (Oxford), Sarah Blackham (North West), Alison Robertson (Scotland), Maria Ireland (Wessex), Danielle Turner (East Anglia), Pei Fang Wu (South West), Grainne Nally (South Thames), Bronwen Kearney (Northern Ireland), Anne Neary (Mersey), David Evans (West Midlands), Andrew Adams (Trent), Shazia Sharif (Yorkshire), Vishal Chikhalia (North Thames group 1), Amanda Jenkins (North Thames group 2), Carmen Lee (North Thames group 3), Hazel Docherty (North Thames group 4).
Tesco winner Miss Amanda Bigg was named preregistration trainee of the year by Tesco's pharmacy division. This was the first year the award, which was sponsored by Reckitt Benckiser and Crookes, has been made. All 26 of Tesco's trainees were treated to a day at the Millennium Dome followed by an end-of-year dinner.
Sainsbury winner Mr Wayne Griffin was named preregistration trainee of the year by Sainsbury's pharmacy division at the company's end-of-year training day at Coombe Abbey, Coventry, on June 27. The trainees presented their projects to a panel of managers from Sainsbury's and Reckitt Benckiser, which sponsored the award. Mr Griffin undertook his training at Sainsbury's Courthouse Green branch, Coventry, and presented a project on asthma management.
Lloyds winner Miss Sally Jackson was named preregistration trainee of the year by Lloyds Pharmacy at the company's end-of-year management training session. Miss Jackson undertook her training at the company's Hurstpierpoint, Sussex, branch. The award, which was sponsored by Reckitt Benckiser, was made on the basis of a project presentation, the results of a mock registration examination and an assessment of overall attitude.
