Nitlotion, for eradicating head lice and preventing them from multiplying, has been launched by Shantys (retail price, 100ml £6.99). The company says that the hair and scalp should be moistened with warm water and Nitlotion applied all over the hair and massaged into the scalp. It should be left for about an hour, after which the hair and scalp should be washed with warm water and then with "normal" shampoo. This should be followed by the wet combing method. The product, which contains coconut oil, blocks the "respiratory openings" of lice, causing them to suffocate and die, and also dissolves the glue that holds the eggs and nits on the hair shaft, the company says. The eggs and nits will then be removed during wet combing, it adds.
