Unichem extends asthma scheme

Pharmacy Alliance, Unichem Ltd's medicines management division, has extended its asthma management programme following a successful pilot scheme.
Mr Nick England (managing director, Pharmacy Alliance) said: "We have simplified the data collection process for pharmacists and GPs so that participating in the scheme is quicker and easier than before."
Thirty-five pharmacies took part in the pilot trial, which was a runner up in the community pharmacy section of this year's Pharmaceutical Care Awards, organised by The Pharmaceutical Journal and Glaxo Wellcome (PJ, July 1, p24).
A further 30 Unichem and Moss pharmacies in the Midlands and the north of England have now joined the programme. Pharmacist training will take place in September and October, with the programme starting in October.
The programme is aimed at asthma patients who have been managing their treatment for a long time without consulting their general medical practitioner or pharmacist for advice.
