The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council decided at its August meeting to seek approval for an increase from £18 to £19 in the retention fee paid by retired members aged over 60 years and those who are unable to work because of ill health. This increase was accidentally omitted from the initial notification of the Society's proposed new fee scales for 2001.
A revised Official Notice setting out the necessary Byelaw alterations is published on p379. In accordance with Section XVIII of the Byelaws, members wishing to comment on the proposed increase in the retired members' fee have 60 days from the date of this Journal in which to do so (ie, until November 8). In the case of the other proposed fee increases, which were first announced in The Journal of August 5 (p214), comments may be submitted up to October 4.
