From Mr P. T. Jobson, MRPharmS
SIR,-Should the current review of veterinary dispensing endorse the pharmacists' knowledge of all pharmaceuticals, human or veterinary, then all community pharmacies may well be offered the best opportunity to expand their dispensing businesses since the NHS was formed.
A recent item on Radio 4 illustrated the similarities between medical and veterinary practice and, indeed, many pharmaceuticals used in both professions are identical. It is time for pharmacy to realise these opportunities and pharmacists now have an opportunity to hear the arguments "from the horse's mouth".
The aspects will be discussed in detail at a weekend open to all pharmacists organised by the Veterinary Pharmacy Group to be held in Edinburgh on October 14 and 15. Sir John Marsh (chairman of the review group) will be present. Mr Chris Bean of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, veterinary surgeons and speakers from the National Office of Animal Health as well as from our own profession will speak. Further details of the conference can be obtained from Liz Griffiths at the Society's headquarters.
