The Department of Health is trying for a second time to fill its vacant chief pharmacist post. The position was advertised in The Journal for the second time last week (pA32). Earlier advertising, which offered a salary of up to £60,000, failed to lead to an appointment. This time, the maximum salary offered is £75,000, with the possibility that a higher salary might be available for "an exceptional candidate".
The person appointed will be expected to provide pharmaceutical advice within the Department, to stimulate developments in pharmacy practice, to progress the better use of pharmacists' skills, among other tasks.
