The Department of Health has agreed to allow "NCSO" (no cheaper stock obtainable) endorsements for the following preparations for September prescriptions if contractors have to supply branded products because generics are unavailable: clomiphene 50mg tablets, co-careldopa 25/100 tablets, co-triamterzide 50/25 tablets, oxprenolol 40mg tablets, oxprenolol 80mg tablets, spironolactone 25mg tablets.
Glucose IV infusion BP 25 per cent (25ml ampoules), hydrocortisone eye ointment 0.5 per cent (3g) and oxprenolol 160mg tablets (100 pack) will be deleted from Part VIII of the Drug tariff with effect from September prescriptions.
Ascorbic acid 50mg tablets (500 pack) will be deleted from Part VIII of the Drug Tariff with effect for September prescriptions only.
