BCG vaccine shortage

The BCG vaccine programme for schools, which was suspended nationally in September, 1999, because of manufacturing problems, was restarted in London in July.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Health told The Journal on September 19 that supplies were being received and that the national programme would be restarted as soon as sufficient supplies were available. However, it was not possible to say when this would be.
