Locums

Where have I gone wrong?

From Mr M. Goldin,
MRPharmS

SIR,—Will you please put me in touch with Mrs O’Neill (PJ, September 23, p445). I could do with some locum work at her pharmacy, as I am in need of a good rest. Where she works seems just the place.
Up to now I have worked as a locum in an environment where from 9am to 5pm, with the help of good staff, we have dispensed up to 450 prescription items, where I have answered the telephone and fielded questions from irate callers, where I have served on the counter, and where I have answered customers’ questions and provided counselling. Seldom have I been offered tea or coffee, let alone had time for a drink. Where have I gone wrong?
I have to admit that after 40 years as a pharmacist, there is a lot to be learnt from my peers in the locum trade.
