Cambridge Laboratories has announced a new brand name, Xenazine 25, for its tetrabenazine 25mg tablets. The licensed indications for the product have also been extended to include the treatment of moderate to severe tardive dyskinesia, which is disabling and/or socially embarrassing. The reccomended starting dose for tardive dyskinesia is 12.5mg a day, subsequently titrated according to response. The summary of product characteristics says that medication should be discontinued if there is no clear benefit or if the side effects cannot be tolerated.
