Society shows off its building again

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society joined several other health care professional bodies in opening its doors to the public on Saturday, September 23, as part of London Open House Weekend.
In company with the British Medical Association, the Royal Society of Medicine, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Pathologists, the Society was among hundreds of Government, commercial and private building owners participating again in this annual celebration of the capital’s architecture.

Nearly 80 visitors enjoyed tours of the Society’s 1970s Lambeth headquarters building, designed by the architect David Hodges. They saw the assembly hall, the Council chamber, the Council dining room and museum display spaces and took in the views from the fifth floor roof terrace.
The event was organised for the Society by the museum team of Caroline Reed, Lorraine Jones, Lisa Randall and Hugh Jenkins, with support from volunteers Mary Box, Charles Butler, Diane Leakey, Larry Marden and Rathindra Nath Banerjee.
A small exhibition on the building and its design will remain on show in the headquarters reception area until the end of October.
