F ollowing Wyeths decision last week to continue to produce lorazepam
(Ativan) injection (PJ, September 30, p475),
a spokesman for the company told The Journal on October 2 that there could be
temporary supply problems.
Although there were no current stock problems, there was a potential for a shortfall
at the end of this year or the beginning of next year which could last for a
couple of months. This was because manufacture of Ativan injection had ceased,
he said. In the meantime, the company is asking customers to reserve the product
for patients for whom there is no viable alternative.
