Melleril syrup

The carton text and bottle labelling for Novartis Pharmaceuticals’s Melleril (thioridazine) syrup has been amended. The company says that the text now details the amount of active ingredient, 27.5mg/5ml, in the syrup instead of the amount of base compound, 25mg/5ml, and reads: “Each 5ml spoonful contains 27.5mg of thioridazine hydrochloride equivalent to 25mg of thioridazine base.” The formulation and concentration of the syrup remain the same.
