The carton text and bottle labelling for Novartis Pharmaceuticalss Melleril (thioridazine) syrup has been amended. The company says that the text now details the amount of active ingredient, 27.5mg/5ml, in the syrup instead of the amount of base compound, 25mg/5ml, and reads: Each 5ml spoonful contains 27.5mg of thioridazine hydrochloride equivalent to 25mg of thioridazine base. The formulation and concentration of the syrup remain the same.
