The school of pharmacy at Bradford university has appointed three honorary visiting professors from hospitals in Yorkshire as part of the introduction of a doctor of pharmacy (DPharm) degree at the school this month.
Professor Peter Taylor (director of pharmacy, Airedale general hospital) has been appointed visiting professor of pharmacy practice. He will chair the clinical placement committee for the degree course. Professor Liz Kay (head of pharmacy services, Leeds teaching hospitals trust), becomes visiting professor of hospital pharmacy and will chair the programme planning committee. Professor Ron Purkiss (chief pharmacist, Northern general hospital, Sheffield) becomes visiting professor of clinical pharmacy and will chair the admissions committee.
They will join Professors Henry Chrystyn and Tony Fell and the school’s teacher-practitioners on the management committee for the new degree. Five or six pharmacists from hospitals in Yorkshire are to start the DPharm programme this month.
