The school of pharmacy at Bradford university has appointed three honorary
visiting professors from hospitals in Yorkshire as part of the introduction
of a doctor of pharmacy (DPharm) degree at the school this month.
Professor Peter Taylor (director of pharmacy, Airedale general hospital) has
been appointed visiting professor of pharmacy practice. He will chair the clinical
placement committee for the degree course. Professor Liz Kay (head of pharmacy
services, Leeds teaching hospitals trust), becomes visiting professor of hospital
pharmacy and will chair the programme planning committee. Professor Ron Purkiss
(chief pharmacist, Northern general hospital, Sheffield) becomes visiting professor
of clinical pharmacy and will chair the admissions committee.
They will join Professors Henry Chrystyn and Tony Fell and the schools
teacher-practitioners on the management committee for the new degree. Five or
six pharmacists from hospitals in Yorkshire are to start the DPharm programme
this month.
