Miss Joanna Lumb, MRPharmS, has left The Pharmaceutical Journal to become a freelance medical and pharmaceutical writer. Miss Lumb joined The Journal as a sub-editor in 1976 and was appointed assistant editor in 1984, specialising in clinical pharmacy. She was promoted to senior assistant editor in 1987 with a brief to expand The Journals continuing education content. Many of the subsequent continuing education articles have been republished as books. She has also served as editor of the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice and will be continuing as its managing editor.
Mr Philip Partridge, MRPharmS, was awarded third prize and the Alastair wand at the International Brotherhood of Magicians British ring shield competition in Scarborough recently. The wand is awarded in memory of Alastair Oliphant, the shield competitions former organiser.
Miss Katherine Wallis,
MRPharmS, is to take part in the Times Clipper round-the-world race starting
from Portsmouth on October 15, returning in September, 2001. Miss Wallis is
a former hospital pharmacist. She will be sailing on the Plymouth Clipper, sponsored
by Finance4professionals.
