Heart disease

Always well rinsed

From Mr K. W. Beckwith, MRPharmS

SIR,—I was truly taken aback by the letter from Mr W. J. Bowler (PJ, September 30, p482), under the heading “Heart disease” in which he declared that, from now on, his tableware will be well rinsed.
He will, no doubt, be surprised to learn that my wife and I calculated that we have been rinsing such items for over 40 years, not because of a heart disease risk, but for reasons made public at the time that to ingest washing-up liquid was not wise for health reasons. Our sink unit includes a separate section for water for rinsing purposes.
