The Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association has announced that Commonwealth
Pharmaid Week, when the annual collection of recent editions of the British
National Formulary takes place, will run from November 13 to 17. All BNFs collected
that week will be sent by Book Aid International to Commonwealth developing
countries for use by health professionals.
The CPA says: The need for recently outdated BNFs in the developing world,
particularly for training, is desperate. Our local representatives will ensure
that the books go where there is most need. This is the most practical way that
British health professionals can make a real difference to the quality of therapeutic
care in developing countries.
Pharmacists are asked to keep their copies of the 38th (green cover) and 39th
(pink cover) editions of the BNF and to give them to their nearest pharmacy
which is served by AAH Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Katie Horsley on 01203 432173 can
advise on this) in the week immediately before November 13. AAH van drivers
will pick up the BNFs and take them to a central warehouse during Pharmaid week.
