Novartis Pharmaceuticals has revised the summary of product characteristics for Desferal (desferrioxamine mesilate) lyophilised powder. The company says that the SPC has been updated substantially following a recent Basic Product Information update. The main changes are the deletion of the oral route of administration for acute iron poisoning and the re-writing of the section on “treatment of acute iron poisoning”.
