Niquitin CQ patches

Smithkline Beecham Consumer Healthcare has revised the summaries of product characteristics for Niquitin CQ patches. The patches are now contraindicated in patients with recent myocardial infarction, unstable or worsening angina pectoris, Prinzmetal’s angina, severe cardiac arrhythmias, or recent cerebovascular accident. A statement that Niquitin CQ should only be used in adolescents (ages 12-17 years) with advice from a physician has also been added. Tacrine and clomipramine have been added to the list of drugs that might require a decrease in dose at cessation of smoking. More detailed guidance for pregnant and breast feeding women has also been provided in the patient information leaflet.
