From Mr N. J. M. Engineer, MRPharmS
SIR,I refer to Mr Luteners reply to my letter in The Journal of
October 7 (p515). Since the
reply is incomplete, it would help both myself and the membership as a whole
if he could answer the following points:
Why is it that when pharmacy inspectors are appointed, their names and photographs
are not published in the PJ?
What policy and procedures does the Society have in place, if any, to encourage
pharmacists from ethnic minorities to apply for inspectorate positions?
What percentage of the total inspectorate do the two recent appointments from
ethnic minorities represent?
Navin Engineer
Weybridge, Surrey
With regard to Mr Engineers first question, The Journal would be willing to publish details of new appointments to the inspectorate if this information were provided by the Society. Mr Luteners response to the second question is that the Society is an equal opportunities employer in respect of all staff. In reply to the third question, he says that there are 18 pharmacy inspectors, including the two from ethnic minorities. EDITOR.
