The Industry

Assistants' advice taken

From Mr I. Strachan, MRPharmS

SIR,—A tendency to tell others while failing to listen is a charge that could be levelled against the majority. Listening to the views and opinions of others is a quality the pharmaceutical industry has on occasions been challenged with omitting from its marketing initiatives.
The announcement by Smithkline Beecham that it is reducing the price of its flagship brand Niquitin, reflects the company’s desire to listen and respond to the views of pharmacists and assistants alike. It is particularly gratifying to observe the company respecting the sentiments of assistants in such a courageous manner by boldly reducing its price in this way. I hope industry is encouraged to nurture such partnerships by informing and involving the very people who are ultimately incremental to the success of any new products where growth is reliant upon the support of pharmacy.
