Due to manufacturing problems, there is currently no stock of Pharmacia &
Upjohn’s Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate) 100mg tablets, pack sizes
60 and 100, and 200mg tablets, pack size 100. In addition, stocks of the 30
tablet packs of the 200mg tablets are low and are expected to run out shortly.
The company says that this situation is unlikely to be resolved before the end
of the year. Extra stocks of the company’s other brand of medroxy-
progesterone acetate, Farlutal 100mg tablets, are available to help alleviate
the problems caused. However, there are differences between the products in
terms of the formulation and excipients. Provera 5mg tablets, pack sizes 10
and 100, are now available.
