Shire enters FTSE 100

Shire Pharmaceuticals Plc entered the Financial Times Stock Exchange index of Britain’s 100 largest companies on October 27. Shire replaced the Woolwich building society which was taken over by Barclays and was no longer separately traded. Shire had a market capitalisation (the value of all its shares in circulation) of £3.4bn making it the 84th largest company by value.
