Isle of Wight pharmacy tops Unichem awards

Regent Pharmacy, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, has been named as the overall winner of the Unichem Great Business awards 2000. Unichem says that its owner, Mr Gary Warner, built on the pharmacy's existing strengths and developed initiatives, such as a health information website and an advertising campaign that included use of radio airtime.
Mr Warner received his award at a ceremony in at the Metropole hotel in Birmingham on November 17. His prize was places for two persons to attend the 2001 Unichem convention which is to be held in New Orleans, United States.
Individual category winners were as follows: promoting the business, Mr James Powell (Medicine Man Pharmacy, Horley); developing the business, Mr Nicholas Porter (Porter's Chemist, Liverpool); building relationships in the community, Mr Paul Stevens (Exminster Pharmacy, Exminster); Healthy Times readers' award, Mr Deepak Thakerar (Shaftesbury Pharmacy, Harrow); and most supportive manufacturer, Smithkline Beecham Consumer Healthcare, for its frequent promotions and representation.
