Following a request by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Glaxo Wellcome has withdrawn Lotronex (alosetron) in the US.
Glaxo Wellcome received FDA approval to market Lotronex in the US in February this year for the treatment of women with diarrhoea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome.
A spokeswoman for Glaxo Wellcome told The Journal on November 29 that the company had a regulatory submission pending for the drug's approval in the UK but that this was likely to be withdrawn.
