Call it medicines management not pharmaceutical care, President says
Pharmacists should use the term "medicines management "and not the term "pharmaceutical care”, according to Mrs Christine Glover (President, Royal Pharmaceutical Society).
Christine Glover: convert others
In an after dinner speech, at the United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association's residential symposium in Blackpool on November 24, Mrs Glover said that pharmaceutical care implied "only the involvement of pharmacists "and not team work. Pharmacy was "a part of the NHS "and pharmacists should "try to use other people's terminology”. She added that the word "pharmaceutical "was a way for pharmacists to sell themselves. Medicines management included other health care professionals and was "a part of main street culture”. Guests at the dinner were told to "convert others "to this way of thinking.
