Wallasey primary care group in the Wirral, Merseyside, recently obtained funding for and organised three full-day training courses on first aid for appointed persons in community pharmacies in its area. Around 30 pharmacists and staff attended the courses. Training was provided by instructors from Mersey regional ambulance service.
Mr Peter Jamieson, a community pharmacist from the Wirral who has been co-opted on to Wallasey PCG, told The Journal on November 24 that the PCG had obtained funding in the form of a National Health Service regional education grant. As well as funding the courses and instructors, money had been used to allow some of the pharmacists to attend by covering locum fees. The PCG also handled course administration.
