Miss Ysobel Gourlay, MRPharmS, has been named pharmacist of the year by Positive Nation, a magazine for HIV-positive people. She is senior pharmacist for infectious diseases and HIV at Gartnavel general hospital, part of North Glasgow University Hospitals NHS trust, and works at Brownlee HIV centre. The magazine described HIV pharmacists as unsung heroes and the long stops of HIV clinics, answering queries about adherence and lifestyles and on more than a few
occasions correcting doctors' mistakes.
Mr Robert Clayton, MRPharmS, has been appointed operations director of Curtis Buckley, a consultancy company established by Mr Stephen Curtis, MRPharmS. Mr Clayton has worked in the National Health Service and the civil service for 30 years and was most recently regional prescribing adviser for the London regional office of the National Health Service Executive. Mr Grahame Rowley, MRPharmS, of Warrington, recently completed the Great North Run half-marathon. He raised £760 for Francis House in Didsbury, Manchester, a children's charity.
