Training seminars for pharmacists taking over the role of preregistration tutor
FOLLOWING the introduction of competence based training and assessment for preregistration programmes which commenced after June, 1993, all pharmacists intending to act as preregistration tutors are required by resolution of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council to attend a one-day tutor training seminar about the Society's preregistration training programme. Prospective tutors should note that attendance at such a seminar is a prerequisite for the commencement of a preregistration trainee's training and that attendance at a seminar prior to 1993 does not obviate the need for attendance in 2001.
Anyone who has attended a seminar since 1993 but who has not tutored a preregistration trainee in the past three years must attend another seminar before his or her trainee commences training. Anyone who has taken over the duties of a preregistration tutor, or who will be taking on a new trainee before summer 2001, and who has not yet attended a seminar must attend the next available seminar. Training seminars will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2001, in Manchester and Thursday, February 8, 2001, in London.
Anyone who needs to attend should contact the Society's education division on 020 7735 9141 ext 375 for further details .
Note: These seminars are not for pharmacists who are expecting to take on a preregistration trainee commencing in the summer of 2001. Seminars for new tutors will be listed in The Pharmaceutical Journal from March, 2001.
