Society in Scotland happy with Scottish health plan

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Scotland has expressed satisfaction with the health plan for Scotland, published by the Scottish Executive on December 14.
Ms Alison Strath (chairman, the Society in Scotland) said: "I am delighted to see that the Scottish Executive recognises the role the profession can play in improving the quality of the patient journey through the National Health Service in Scotland."
Welcoming commitments made in the plan, such as those to pharmaceutical care and to pharmacist prescribing, she said: "Patients should not be expected to suffer inconvenience or badly co-ordinated services because of rigid demarcations of professional responsibility. I am glad that the plan will ensure that the skills of each health professional will be exploited in the primary care team to ensure a better level of service."
She also welcomed the Scottish Executive’s commitment to the development of a pharmacy strategy for Scotland.
