Bayer Diagnostics has launched Clinstix OTC, an over-the-counter self-testing kit for checking the presence of glucose in urine. The company says that the kit is for people who suspect that they may have diabetes and contains two test strips and a booklet about diabetes. The book includes information on what the test does, when and how the test should be used and what patients should do if the test is positive. The kit (retail price, 1 kit £3.95) is available in an eight-unit merchandising pack containing eight kits (net price, £18.08) and in a four-unit refill pack containing four kits (net price, £9.04).
