About People

Miss Katherine Wallis, MRPharmS, arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 21 on board Plymouth Clipper, one of eight 60ft yachts taking part in the Times Clipper 2000 round the world yacht race (PJ, October 14, 2000, p588), and the first to finish the leg from the Galapagos Islands to Hawaii. The race is due to finish in Portsmouth in September. Miss Wallis is principal pharmaceutical consultant at Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Appointments

EAEPC The European Association of Euro-Pharmaceutical Companies (EAEPC) has appointed Mr Donald Macarthur, MRPharmS, as its first secretary general. The EAEPC is a group of national associations and companies involved in parallel distribution of medicines.

Numark Numark Ltd has appointed Mr Andrew Sollitt as marketing director. Mr Sollitt was formerly head of marketing at Pubmaster, a chain of tenanted public houses. He succeeds Mr David Wood, MRPharmS, who was appointed deputy managing director last year.

PAGB The Proprietary Association of Great Britain has appointed Ms Lucy Rochford as advertising services manager, responsible for approving consumer advertising material for non-prescription medicines. She was formerly senior dietitian at Hertfordshire Health Promotion.

Pharmacy Partners Pharmacy Partners Ltd has appointed Mr Mike Rudin, MRPharmS, as national product manager. Mr Rudin is a former superintendent pharmacist of Tesco Stores Plc.

Wants List

Primary care pharmacy Miss Alison Fish (research pharmacist, department of general practice and primary care, Aberdeen university) wants to hear from anyone who has been involved with, or who knows of studies, evaluating the work of primary care pharmacists working within medical practices. The department is undertaking a systematic review and wants to hear of studies (published or unpublished) conducted in the United Kingdom, the United States or Scandinavia. Health Promotion England leaflets

Health Promotion England (HPE) is reviewing leaflets produced by the Health Education Authority (HEA) which was closed last year. Some HPE resources are available and, for other subjects, old HEA leaflets are still obtainable.

Leaflets can be obtained from health promotion units of local health authorities in England. Similar leaflets can be obtained though health authorities/ health boards in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Leaflets cover a wide variety of topics but, owing to their mixed availability, have not been listed above for each event. Larger quantities of leaflets can be purchased from HPE customer services (tel 01235 465565).
