Absence of hard science

From Dr N. D. Wood, MRPharmS

My certificate states that I am a pharmaceutical chemist. When the terms “chemical, chemist, formulation, or pharmaceutics” were entered into the Centre for Pharmacy Postgradute Education search engine at www.cppe.man.ac.uk, the response was: “No documents found. Please try again.”

These terms are key to pharmacy, yet physical sciences are absent from CPPE catalogues, as it seems are preclinical pharmacology, pharmacognosy, manufacturing, quality assurance, etc.

If continuing professional development becomes is mandatory, the CPPE material offered should cover all topics, not overwhelmingly the clinical.

Nicholas D. Wood
