Separate registerDebate it before we disappearFrom Mrs D. Fine, MRPharmS There must be many pharmacists like myself who are not practising in pharmacy and have no intention of returning to practise in the short term. However, we worked hard to be pharmacists, are happy to pay our annual fee to remain on the register and keep up to date through The Journal, and to retain the letters MRPharmS. Many of us render useful services to the profession through our current occupations. It would appear that, when continuing professional development becomes compulsory, we will be disenfranchised and will have to retire from the register. Surely there is a case for a separate register for non-practising pharmacists, from which we could only move to the main register on completion of a recognised course of CPD or re-training? Also, we could form a special interest group that could be beneficial to the profession in many ways. Could we please see some debate on this subject, before we disappear? Doreen Fine |
