Technicians develop code of practice
The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK)
has agreed to work with non-member technicians to develop a code of practice
as an enabling step towards registration.
At a European Foundation for the Advancement of
Healthcare Practitioners (EFAHP) conference for pharmacy technicians on
June 18, two independent technicians, Diane Evans and Lynn Leitch, presented
a draft code of conduct at the request of a previous EFAHP conference.
Participants voted overwhelmingly for the draft code of conduct to be
passed to APTUK for further development, on the understanding that non-member
technicians would be consulted.
Lesley Morgan, APTUK president, told the conference
that APTUK was working with both the Guild of HealthCare Pharmacists and
the Royal Pharmaceutical Society on the issue of registration.
The conference chairman, Darren Leech, appealed
to all pharmacy technicians to unite in support of registration, Mrs Morgan
and APTUK.
