Election brings three changes to Scottish Executive
The annual election of six members of the Royal Pharmaceutical
Societys Scottish Executive has resulted in three changes, with Elizabeth
Grant, Harry McQuillan and Margaret Ryan all elected for the first time.
The other three vacancies have been filled by the re-election of Alister
MacLaren, Pat Murray and Andrew Taylor.
The three new executive members replace James Bunney,
Elizabeth McConechy and Graeme Millar, none of whom sought re-election.
Mrs Grant is pharmacy health promotion co-ordinator for Greater Glasgow
Health Board and lead pharmacy audit facilitator for Argyll and Clyde
Health Board. Mr McQuillan is a primary care pharmacist with Boots The
Chemists. Mrs Ryan is senior prescribing adviser for Lomond and Argyll
Primary Care Trust.
On June 20, at the new executives first meeting,
the chairman, Alison Strath, thanked Dr Bunney, Mrs McConechy and Mr Millar
for their service to the executive over the past years. Between them they
had amassed 42 years service, she said.
During the meeting, the executive unanimously elected
Miss Strath to serve as chairman for a second year. David Thomson was
unanimously re-elected as vice-chairman. The executive also decided to
reject a motion that future candidates for election to the executive should
be required to provide a policy statement.
