Superdrug sold to Dutch store chain
SUPERDRUG, the health, beauty and pharmacy chain, has
been sold by Kingfisher Plc to Kruidvat Beheer BV, a Dutch drug store
chain for £280m in cash. Kingfisher will report a £55m loss on the sale.
Michael Keen, superintendent pharmacist at Superdrug,
told The Journal that Kruidvat had over 500 drug stores in the
Netherlands and over 100 in Belgium. Kruidvat had been looking to buy
Superdrug for some time, as it complemented its existing portfolio. There
were no plans to change the companys name.
